The video of the Democratic National Convention discusses Kennedys ideas of the way to run the county. One quote that was very useful was: "The New Frontier of which I speak is not a set of promises-- it is a set of challenges. It sums up not what I intend to offer the American people, but what I intend to ask of them." This quote was what Kennedy was representing himself as a president which some people liked, and what turned some people against him that did not agree. (NB)
"Address to the Nation on the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, 26 July 1963." - John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Mar. 2013.
Kennedy creates the a treaty to ban the testing of atmospheric nuclear weapon tests. His main idea for this was to protect the people and improve national security. In the end is main goal to the people was to "emphasize that while the treaty does not eliminate the threat of nuclear war, a limited test ban is safer than an unlimited arms race." This was mostly a reason that the President would be liked. He wanted to create a country where people felt safe and were protected by treaties that would help them. (NB)
